Still On Hold...

I have decided that this blog is something I really want to do.

I also understand that I have limitations.

At the moment LIFE is getting in the way.  Or perhaps being responsible is getting in the way.  The craft area organization is coming along well.  The backyard is about as FAB as it is gonna get - the rest is pretty much up to Mother Nature.  I'll of course help with watering, insect control and deadheading.

The collection of crafting items is also growing!!!  What can I say - I love love love garage sale season!!!

No Projects Yet

I have been spending my time cleaning and organizing and planting!

Yep, planting.  Last year we turned out jungle of a backyard into a baron wasteland to the beginnings of a beautiful slice of heaven.

Last year we planted a bunch of stuff... most of it made it - 2 bushes (a double hibiscus and a rhododendron) didn't make it.  One of the rose bushes is taken off - and one is a little slow on the uptake.  The rest of the perennials are doing wonderfully!

My creative juices have gone into planting.  I bought a few flats of flowers.  Planting them in the flowerbeds and designing my hanging flowers baskets.

The next step - finish up the garden.  It's ready - just waiting a week to make sure no little frosty type weather kills the plants.  :)  Oh yeah, and my lil one decided we needed to plant watermelon.  Where the heck am I gonna plant that?

I will be adding some pictures of the backyard.  I don't know if I have any 'before' pictures, but I do have 'during' and 'current'.

Craft Project Overload!

Yeah, I have it!  Total mental overload.  I have been reading and reading a ton of wonderful blogs.  Searching Craigslist and FreeCycle for crafting deals.  Gathering ideas and items.

I used to have tons of craft stuff.  I lost it all, long story - actually rather short story, but I try not to dwell.  I have been reestablishing my larder, but it hasn't been easy.  Every time I see a new project, I'm at a loss.  There is always something missing.  ALWAYS.   Being a student, homemaker and mother there is not a second income in this house.  OUCH.  Not used to not having my own money.

My primary sources for craft supplies:

Craigslist
FreeCycle
Garage Sales
Dollar Stores
Clearance Racks at various stores
After holiday sales are always good
and I am absolutely in love with some of the coupons from stores like Michaels.

Over the Christmas holiday my dear SO had a couple of pictures framed (60% + 10% off).  Plus they were giving gift cards worth $5 for every $25 you spent.  Ended up with 7 cards!  Add a paint sale and a coupon for 20% off (including sale items) and I almost completely restocked my paints and brushes!  Plus some for about $10.00

Back to the overload.... I will continue to work on the Blog - my first major project will be creating a work area (that will double as the formal dining room).  I can't work if I can't find my stuff.

This week though - I will be working on the yard!  Or gathering more items for craft projects - depends on how you look at it.

Purple People Eater??

Yes, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE purple!  The nice deep dark royal purple!  I have friends that call me "Purple" and I answer like anyone would with a nickname.

I don't wear purple.  Well, not often and certainly not in quantity.  A little highlight here or there... a splash there.  But never in quantity...personally, I just feel like Barney when I wear too much.

I love purple papers, purple flowers, steamers, paints!  I often add purple food coloring to my white frosting!

Now, I have been looking into buying chalkboard paint and imagine my surprise when I saw THIS:

Now the only concern is, NOT putting it on everything!!!!

Slow Start and Etiquette

My blog is off to a slow start.  I'm going to blame it on Easter and reading other blogs.  The week before Easter was busy, busy, crazy busy...but not all related to the holiday itself...just stuff added to holiday prep.

Then there is blog reading.  I know I am behind the 8-ball on this blogging stuff - it's been going on for years!  So read, read, read!  That's what I am all about at the moment.  Absorbing ideas, checking out projects and getting a feel for the bloggers etiquette.

Etiquette, a word that seems to have fallen by the waste side.

According to Webster's Dictionary Online:

Etiquette:  : the conduct or procedure required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in social or official life

So I am compiling a list of blogs that I am already enjoying.  Following both here and on Facebook (if applicable).  Then I will transfer that list here in a blog post.  Certainly that is the right thing to do if I am using these bloggers as examples.

So off to bed I go so I can rest up and begin a new day...

Enjoy!

Busy busy week!

I love weeks like this!  Lots of stuff going on!  Only down side, my brain is so crazy busy that I don't sleep as much.

Monday was craft night.  This is normally on Tuesdays but like I said - it's a busy week.  Three little girls (sometimes four) gathered around a table working happily!  This is a new thing for us, started in March.  (I will be touching base on this more - later.)

Tuesday is egg night!  Turns out this is going to be 30+ eggs for one little girl!  More to come on that too!

Wednesday - another craft night with a good friend.  We are going to plan and perhaps start a project for the backyard!  A backyard that is in the process of being re-landscaped!  Re-landscaping takes a lot longer than it does on the TV shows.  Especially when it's a DIY project and money is tight.  (oooohhhh another post topic)

Thursday - shipping the lil one off to her fathers.  Yes, this is a project.  Making sure she remembers to take something other than a sundress and rain boots with her.  (Yes, lil one you HAVE to take underwear and socks with you!)  Driving what is normally 50 minutes each way....during rush hour...through Detroit.... ummmm, yeah... This is a 3+ hour event.  Followed by an "Easter Bunny Shopping Trip" and cleaning.

Friday - small dinner party!  Keeping it simple.

Saturday - I would say would be relaxation day, but I find that highly unlikely.

Then Sunday.... hunting, laughing, cooking and time with family....

Off to finish decorating eggs!

Creating, Creative....

The first post!  Probably the most difficult one of them all.   Perhaps the easiest.  I'm just not certain.

But this is all about being creative.  Crafting, home decorating, promoting myself, my small business.  Creating connections.

Hopefully along the way I can create some friendships.

I will be taking my time working on this blog.  I have way too many ideas in my head.  So I will spend some time making this as creative as possible while not overwhelming myself.

Looking forward to my new endeavor.
