No Projects Yet

I have been spending my time cleaning and organizing and planting!

Yep, planting.  Last year we turned out jungle of a backyard into a baron wasteland to the beginnings of a beautiful slice of heaven.

Last year we planted a bunch of stuff... most of it made it - 2 bushes (a double hibiscus and a rhododendron) didn't make it.  One of the rose bushes is taken off - and one is a little slow on the uptake.  The rest of the perennials are doing wonderfully!

My creative juices have gone into planting.  I bought a few flats of flowers.  Planting them in the flowerbeds and designing my hanging flowers baskets.

The next step - finish up the garden.  It's ready - just waiting a week to make sure no little frosty type weather kills the plants.  :)  Oh yeah, and my lil one decided we needed to plant watermelon.  Where the heck am I gonna plant that?

I will be adding some pictures of the backyard.  I don't know if I have any 'before' pictures, but I do have 'during' and 'current'.

Craft Project Overload!

Yeah, I have it!  Total mental overload.  I have been reading and reading a ton of wonderful blogs.  Searching Craigslist and FreeCycle for crafting deals.  Gathering ideas and items.

I used to have tons of craft stuff.  I lost it all, long story - actually rather short story, but I try not to dwell.  I have been reestablishing my larder, but it hasn't been easy.  Every time I see a new project, I'm at a loss.  There is always something missing.  ALWAYS.   Being a student, homemaker and mother there is not a second income in this house.  OUCH.  Not used to not having my own money.

My primary sources for craft supplies:

Craigslist
FreeCycle
Garage Sales
Dollar Stores
Clearance Racks at various stores
After holiday sales are always good
and I am absolutely in love with some of the coupons from stores like Michaels.

Over the Christmas holiday my dear SO had a couple of pictures framed (60% + 10% off).  Plus they were giving gift cards worth $5 for every $25 you spent.  Ended up with 7 cards!  Add a paint sale and a coupon for 20% off (including sale items) and I almost completely restocked my paints and brushes!  Plus some for about $10.00

Back to the overload.... I will continue to work on the Blog - my first major project will be creating a work area (that will double as the formal dining room).  I can't work if I can't find my stuff.

This week though - I will be working on the yard!  Or gathering more items for craft projects - depends on how you look at it.

Purple People Eater??

Yes, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE purple!  The nice deep dark royal purple!  I have friends that call me "Purple" and I answer like anyone would with a nickname.

I don't wear purple.  Well, not often and certainly not in quantity.  A little highlight here or there... a splash there.  But never in quantity...personally, I just feel like Barney when I wear too much.

I love purple papers, purple flowers, steamers, paints!  I often add purple food coloring to my white frosting!

Now, I have been looking into buying chalkboard paint and imagine my surprise when I saw THIS:

Now the only concern is, NOT putting it on everything!!!!
